Forest Hills Station is a station on the MBTA Orange Line, located in Forest Hills in the southern part of the Jamaica Plain neighborhood of Boston, Massachusetts at the intersections of Washington Street, Hyde Park Avenue, South Street, The Arborway and Morton Street. Forest Hills is the southern terminus of the MBTA Orange Line. It serves nearby residential neighborhoods and is also a major bus transfer station with connections to 14 routes. Commuter trains on the MBTA's Needham Line line also serve the station
The Orange Line has three stops in the Heart of the City, all of which are in Jamaica Plain. The Line trains leave Forest Hills Station beginning at 5:16 a.m. On weekdays the trains run every six minutes from 6:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Mid-day they run every eight minutes; late evening they run every 13 minutes until the T closes down at just before 12:30 a.m. On weekends the trains run from ten to 14 minutes apart (less frequently on Sundays than Saturdays).
Bus transit:
The communities east and northeast of Franklin Park and the Boston State Hospital site in the Heart of the City are almost entirely dependent on buses for public transportation. The buses that have routes through the Heart of the City are listed below. Note that only the parts of the neighborhoods that are within about a half mile of the major greenspaces in the area are represented. Bus corridors that demand particular attention include Washington Street south of Forest Hills, Blue Hill Avenue and Warren Street, and Centre/ South Streets. Centre/ South Streets carry the most heavily used single bus route in the area. Route #39 to Forest Hills along Centre/ South Streets from Back Bay receives 17,400 riders each day ("Access Boston 2000-2010." Boston Transportation Department). Route #23 (Ashmont to Ruggles via Washington and Warren Streets) and Route #28 (Mattapan to Ruggles via Blue Hill Avenue and Warren Street) receive 11,700 riders each, which is more riders than any other route in Roxbury. The eight bus routes that run south from Forest Hills Station on Washington Street through Roslindale have a collective total of 17,100 riders each day).
